COVID-19 Related Scams
The COVID-19 pandemic has provided an opportunity for scamers to profit from consumers' fears and uncertainities.
The following is a list of the seven leading COVID-19 related scams from the Canadian Professional Accountant's Association:
- individuals selling fake COVID-19 cures
- websites selling fake vaccine kits
- private companies requesting fees for government relief applications
- companes selling unproven drugs to treat symptons
- fraudsters impersonating the Red Cross and other know charities, offering free medical products (e.g. masks) for a donation
